Spelthorne Choral Society is the foremost local choir welcoming members from across the Spelthorne borough, and a few beyond. Conducted by Sean Bui since January 2015, and accompanied by Lindsay Bridgwater, they are an enthusiastic and friendly group of people singing a wide range of music of the highest quality: evergreens and novelties from Baroque to the present day. Rehearsals, including basic voice training, are methodical and fun at the same time. They enjoy singing alongside professional soloists with a variety of piano, organ, and orchestral accompaniment.
Past highlights have included performances of Elgar's The Music Makers; Beethoven's Choral Symphony No. 9 at Eton College School Hall; Handel’s Messiah, accompanied by period instruments; and a recording of Christmas music: Joy to the World, which was released in 1997 featuring their former Patron, the late virtuoso organist Carlo Curley.
Spelthorne Choral Society are proud of a distinguished history, having been founded in 1920 and known as Ashford Choral Society prior to 2008. The choir are always looking for new members. To find out more information, please visit www.spelthornechoralsociety.com.
